Centenary of Civil Aviation

India Post released a set of 4 stamp and a miniature sheet on 14th March 2012, to celebrate 100 years of Civil Aviation in India.

The first domestic air route between Karachi and Delhi was opened in December 1912 by Indian state Air Services in collaboration with UK based Imperial Airways.

The design of the stamps and the miniature sheet depicts the journey of the Civil aviation in India, starting from the first commercial flight to its ubiquitous presence across the country with airports having world class facilities.

A spcial cover on Prof. P.R. Ramakrishnan was issued by India Post on 29th March, 2018 on his Birth centenary celebrations. Prof. P.R. Ramakrishnan, Industrialist, M.P and Educationalist Prof. P R RAMAKRISHNAN , Son of Shri V. Rangaswamy Naidu; born in Peelamedu, Coimbatore on October 11, 1917; educated at Madras University. A post-graduate in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) Mr. Ramakrishnan had worked in the General Electric Company in the U.S. for seven years. P. R. Ramakrishnan was the first Indian Alumni of MIT Sloan School of Management and a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States who founded Madras Aluminum Company, South India Viscose, Coimbatore Institute of Technology and many other textile industries and two time Member of Parliament representing Indian National Congress from Coimbatore for the 3rd Lok Sabha during the 1962 General Elections and Pollachi for the 2nd Lok Sabha during the 1957 General Electio

Special Cover on NYAYAPATHI RAGHAVARAO by Indian Post Date of Issue: 23-4-2005 న్యాయపతి రాఘవరావు (1905 - 1984) రేడియో అన్నయ్యగా ప్రసిద్దుడు, ఆంధ్ర బాలానంద సంఘం సంస్థాపకుడు, బాలసాహిత్యవేత్త, బాలబాలికల శ్రేయస్సు, సాంస్కృతిక వికాసానికి తన జీవితాన్ని అంకితం చేసిన విద్యావేత్త, కళాకోవిదుడు మరియు రచయిత. పాఠశాల చదువు అనంతరం విజయనగరం లోని మహారాజ కళాశాల లో డిగ్రీ పూర్తిచేసి మద్రాసు లో పత్రికా విలేఖరిగా జీవితం ప్రారంభించాడు. పది సంవత్సరాల పాటు జర్నలిస్టుగా పనిచేసి, దానికి రాజీనామా చేసి. ఆకాశవాణి లో కాంట్రాక్టు పద్ధతిపైన చేరాడు. అక్కడ చేరిన తరువాత చిన్నపిల్లల కార్యక్రమాలను ప్రతి వారం నిర్వహించే పద్ధతిని ప్రవేశపెట్టాడు. ఈ కార్యక్రమం నిర్వహిస్తూ క్రమంగా రాఘవరావు రేడియో అన్నయ్య గా పేరొందాఋ. ప్రతి ఆదివారం ఆటవిడుపు అనే కార్యక్రమం ప్రారంభించి, తెలుగు బాల బాలికలను రారండోయ్ రారండోయ్........ పిల్లల్లారా రారండోయ్ అంటూ పిలుపు నిచ్చాడు. ఆయనకు చేదోడు వాదోడుగా ఆయన శ్రీమతి న్యాయపతి కామేశ్వరి అండగా నిలిచి ఆ కార్యక్రమాలను విజయవంతం చేసి రేడియో అక్కయ్య గా పేరొందారు. బాలబాలికల ప్రగతికై పాటుబడిన న్యాయపతి రాఘవరావ
