A COMMEMORATIVE STAMP BY INDIA POST ON CARANATIC COMPOSER SWATHI THIRUNAL RAMA VARMA DATE OF ISSUE :2 -5 -1988 శ్రీ స్వాతి తిరునాళ్ రామవర్మ (ఏప్రిల్ 16, 1813 - డిసెంబరు 25, 1846) కేరళలోని తిరువంకూరు మహారాజు. స్వాతి తిరునాళ్ సంగీతాన్ని బాగా ప్రోత్సహించేవారు. ఇతడు కర్నాటక సంగీతంలో ఇంచుమించు 400 కృతులు రచించారు. ఇతనికి సంస్కృతం, హిందీ, మళయాలం, మరాఠీ, తెలుగు, తమిళం, ఒరియా, ఇంగ్లీషు మరియు కన్నడ భాషలలో ప్రావీణ్యం కలదు.  స్వాతి తిరునాళ్ తెలుగులోపదికి పైగా కీర్తనలు రచించాడు.వీరి తెలుగు లో రచించిన  కీర్తనలలో  'వలపు తాళ వశమా నా సామికి చలము సేయ న్యాయమా' , ' ఇటు సాహసముల ఏల నాపై చక్కని స్వామీ ' అనేవి  మిక్కిలి ప్రసిద్ధమైనవి. వీరి గౌరవార్దం 2 -5 -1988 న (175వ జయంతికి) మన తపాల శాఖ ఒక ప్రత్యేక తపాల బిళ్ళను విడుదలచేసింది.
